Wake up Sid!
Directed by: Ayan Mukherji
Cast: Ranbir kapoor, Konkana Sensharma, Anupam kher
"Wake up Sid" is story of a rich pampered Mumbai guy named Sidharth who is completely aimless in life like most of the teenagers, and clearly says,"Mein papa ke paise udata hoon." when asked about what does he do for a living. Sid's life is all about friends and parties. he is a total uber cool guy who doesn't take anything seriously in life. He meets a girl named Ayesha, who has recently shifted to Mumbai to give her life a new direction. His life changes completely when he fails in his graduation. More over he is upset because all of his friends get passed leaving him all alone. In the agitation of failure, he misbehaved with his illiterate mother and leaves the house.
This is the time when Aayesha gives shelter to our hero and life happens to him.
The storyline is very interesting and relatable. You can say this is the story of every second teenager in India. The most beautiful part of the story is that both Sid and Ayesha are completely poles apart from eachother yet they share a great chemistry even after a completely platonic relationship. Both the characters are written so well the we can't stop ourselves from adoring Sid's innocence and appreciating Ayesha's independent ideologies throughout the film.
Both Ranbir and Konkana acted so real in the film that audience connects to every single bit of their characters. Konkana as "Ayesha" is looking so lovely and has successfully managed to inspire the naive audience like sid. Aayesha's life style of being one's own boss is totally powerful. And the way Konkana has presented it, its totally stunning. The characters of Ayesha and Sid have many layers into it. She is an independent lady who wants a mature person for her life but later finds peace in Sid's child like acts. He is a rich boy who explores the life only after getting on his ass. Anupam Kher, has played the character of a father who wants his kid to take responsibilities very well.
Film is so engaging that you feel yourself literally connected with the characters,Liitle moments like Sid's mother's sending his favourite mangoes to him, Ayesha and Sid throwing water at eachother, Sid's reunion with his old bestie and Ayesha's actual realisation about her infatuation towards her boss are presented so realistically, moreover such scene are extremely touching, cute and eye pleasing that makes this movie a worth watch.
The best part of film is its music. The soundtrack of the film is absolutely peaceful and melodious. Songs like "Iktara" and " Life is crazy" would surely make you fall in love.Even after 8 years of realise, the soundtrack is still refreshing and soothe.
The climax Romantic scene when Sid reads Ayesha's article and they meet at marine drive in rain is so beautifully shown and the best part is it never looks cheesy.
In the end, the USP of this film is its relatability factor. Be it the Characters of Sid or Ayesha, stories of both fills you up with excitement. The meaningful drama has been served to us very lightly. I never felt overdose of any element while watching the film. A perfect Romantic movie to watch with your beloved.
