Badrinath ki Dulhaniya
Badrinath ki Dulhaniya, staring Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt, directed by Shashank Khaitan is a romcom shooted in small towns of Jhansi and Kota.
The film starts with a very unpleasant note where the protagonist Badrinath (Dhawan) tells about his social surroundings where evils like eve teasing and dowry are rampant.
The first half an hour of the movie is not at all interesting or entertaining. Lame humour is imposed on a very serious problem of Eve teasing. The jokes are very sexist. So, for first half an hour, you would probably think that you have wasted your money. But gradually, as film goes, you get the reasons to sit and watch the film.
As far as the whole story and direction is concerned, it's quite average and non refreshing. Although there are some scenes where the qualities of a good direction can be noticed. For example: There is scene in the movie, where Vaidahi (Bhatt) clearly refuses to Badri's proposal and heart broken Badri holds the hand of his best friend Somdev ( Sahil vaid) and walks like a toddler, that scene was shown nicely. And it was genuinely funny.
Talking about actor's performances, Varun has clearly over acted in the movie. But the audience could sense how hard has he tried to deliver a good performance.
Thanks to nepotism, Varun still has a very huge fan base.
Talking about Alia, she has delivered a very natural performance. Alia has this special thing about her that she suits all the characters given to her.Be it Kapoor's and sons or Udta Panjab, Alia has done total justice to her characters.
The music of the film is really good. The remake of old classic song "Tamma Tamma" would force you to dance in your head.
Logics are not taken care of in the movie. If you are going for a movie, it is highly recommended to not to take your brain with yourself. Otherwise you would feel like " what's going on?" Through out the movie. The idiotic things Badrinath and Somdev do in the movie can be completly irritating if you are watching the movie with all your senses. So if you want to enjoy the film, just watch it without applying logics.
It's not like that movie is a complete disappointment.
There are some scenes which are really entertaining. The chemistry of Badri and Vaidhi in Singapore is so cute and adorable that would take you to your own dream world of love for a moment.
So in short, this movie is not for an intellectual kind of audience but if you want to have a light entertainment. You can watch this film. This film is totally a one time watch.
Stars: 2.5/5
